LOCHSIDE SAILING CLUB SPRING NEWSLETTER 2006 |
|
|
Happy New Sailing Year to all, let's look
forward to another exciting season. News Last year saw the introduction of the highly successful schools training programme and a steady increase in the club membership, which we are expecting to add to in 2006. The new windsurfer and safety boat containers have been a great success with the free space in the spar shed being well used for boat repairs and refurbishment. The plan is to hold a series of work-party days
beginning on Sunday 12th
February and every following Sunday. Please try to come along
and help from 12 noon onwards, afterwards over a cup of tea we will
be trying to show videos or have short training sessions to assist
in personal development. Securi The security code on the main gate padlock at the Club will be changed again this year - on 23rd April - the new number will be given to members on receipt of fees. Do not divulge the number to non-members. Due to last years thefts please ensure that no loose items are left in your boat and that they are stored in the secure areas provided. Members are also reminded that it is their own responsibilty to secure/tie down their boat. Finally, always check that you lock up if you are the last one around. Any problems with the gate contact a committee member. Insurance Please remember it is a membership requirement to have insurance with 3rd Party Liabilty Insurance required as a minimum

Dates For Your Diary
Opening regatta 23rd April These dates are all Sundays with two races on each regatta day and the starting times will be 1.30 and 3.00 prompt Each helms best nine results over the season
are counted, the winner being the boat with the fewest points. Last year's results are on the club noticeboard. Taking part in even a few races will give you a place in the running. Midweek sailing will be on Wednesday evenings, as that seems to suit most helms. The Whisky Regatta, 20th August this year, is
now a regular fixture. Club Boat Please remember the club boat, a Topper Taz, is
available for general use by club members and we would like to see
it used more this year. The hull is stored on the Topper racking and
the rig is in the spar shed. It's great fun for all ages especially
the brave on a very windy day. Weekend Trips Holiday weekends this year will follow the usual format. Interested parties will arrange camping, or a caravan hire on the west coast. Last years venues were Tayvallich and Loch Creran. New venue ideas always welcome.Dates this year will be the May weekend, Glasgow Fair weekend and Glasgow September weekend, watch the notice board or contact a committee member details |
Windsurfers
There will again be prizes for racing, speed, and freestyle. Details of what to do will be put on the windsurf notice board. If anyone wants to organise any other events, that would be great.
