It's Summer....allegedly

News
Work Party
Before the start of the season a group of members carried out repairs to the fencing, cleaned the
jetty/decking (a special thanks to Alan McCall) as well as other odd jobs around the club. I am sure
everyone appreciates the effort put in.

Mid Week Class Racing
Please remember the small series of class races for Toppers and Lasers. Both classes will race on the same
evening with the remaining dates being 15th August and 19th September, proposed start time is approx
6.30/6.45. The first two races could have had more entries so please try to come along.

Security
The security code on the main gate padlock at the Club is changed, the new number will be given to members
who have paid their 2007 fees. Do not divulge the number to non-members.
A new lock system will soon be fitted to the outside of the club house door, this will be a combination style
lock similar to the gate and will ensure the door is always securely closed.
Due to theft please ensure that no loose items are left in your boat and that they are stored in the secure
areas provided.
Members are also reminded that it is their own responsibility to secure/tie down their boat. Boats should
also be checked regularly as over the winter high winds caused damage to one or more boats.
Could each member attach a label to their boat with a contact number to allow contact to be made in case of
emergency/damage.
Finally, always check that you lock up if you are the last one around. Any problems with the gate contact a
committee member.

Dates for Your 2007 Diary
July regatta – 1st July
August regatta – 5th August
Whisky regatta – 19th August
September regatta – 2nd Sept
October regatta – 7th October
Closing regatta – 21st October

These dates are all Sundays with two races on each regatta day and the starting times will be 1.30 and 3.00
prompt
Each helm's best nine results over the season are counted, the winner being the boat with the fewest points.

Taking part in even a few races will give you a place in the running.
Midweek sailing will be on Wednesday evenings, with addition of the class races.
The Whisky Regatta, 19th August this year, is now a regular fixture.

Club Boat(s)
Please remember the club boat, a Topper Taz, is available for general use by club members and we would
like to see it used more this year. The hull is stored on the Topper racking and the rig is in the spar shed. Its
great fun for all ages especially the brave on a very windy day.
There is also a topper sail number 9690 on the top deck of the rack which can be used by members , rudder and centreboard being denoted "bob", grey sail on the mast and red mainsheet/black kicker on the boom.

Club Windsurfer
The club has recently purchased, with the help Jim Toye and Bob Gairns, a training windsurfer with kiddie
and adult training rigs so there is no reason why young and old alike cannot try to learn. All the equipment
is stored in the windsurf container. If you have any questions contact a committee member.

Windsurfers
After the open day and Jim Toyes internet activities the windusfing section has attracted six new
windsurfer members. If any of the new members know someone who may want to join please invite them
along for a trial.
