As the mad March winds whip up the waves on our favourite loch, all us sailors are eagerly looking forward to another season of watery antics. – aren’t we? Of course we are … although maybe we should wait until the water is a wee bit warmer and the days a bit longer, and I do need to renew that cover eyelet and varnish that tiller….. For those who need to keep their hands busy we have a brilliant new kitchen to install in the Clubhouse, thanks to Gordon Friel’s generosity. Flat-pack experts – that’s all of us – are called on to assist in assembling and fitting a new worktop, sink and kitchen units. Please help if you can.
Security
The additional padlock on the main gate at the Club has been a great success in blocking access for keyholders whose membership had lapsed. The number issued to members last year will remain the same for this year, but will change next year. Do not divulge the number to non-members.

Taking part in even a few races will give you a place in the running. Midweek sailing will be on Wednesday evenings, as last year.
Weekend Trips
Holiday weekends this year will follow the usual format. Interested parties will arrange camping, or a caravan hire on the west coast. Last year’s venue on the Isle of Luing at the May holiday weekend was very successful (see photos). Other venues have been Tayvallich, Loch Creran and Lochgilphead. New ideas welcome.
Dates this year will be 2nd-5th May, 11th-14th July and 26th-29th September.

Website
The website for the club at http://www.lochside.org continues to expand and improve, thanks to Colin Scott. It now includes an archive of Club Newsletters as well as current information. There are links to our site from quite a few web sites. It is a means of contacting the club for prospective members. The webmail account at hotmail.com is still active with name "lochside_sailing_club " @hotmail.com. We are copying the newsletter and other notices here, in case you lose your paper copy.
Colin's Comments
Tthere are some changes to the website coming together shortly, as time allows. A new functionality called a Discussion Forum" will be installed allowing almost instant email and reply capability for us all to use on any subject. The windsurfing section will have its own spot within the site and if time allows the photo gallery will be properly revamped. I hope you like the changes, I feel the old front page a little bland, the new style will be much more vibrant and a little more capable. A big Thanks goes out to Alan Mc Call who has carried out the kitchen installation within the last week (20/03/03).
The photos on the paper copy are omitted here as they can be found in the photograph gallery.
