Shut your eyes for a moment and pretend that it has stopped snowing. The photocopy of the original newsletter was such that the image was not transferable. Do you have a good copy ??? CommitteeOur current Chairman, Ian Cuthbertson. sadly will be moving to London at the end of March. This will be a long term move and consequently he has had to give up his Club membership. Iain has been a member since he was a lad and has devoted a great deal of his time and energy to the Club. He was responsible for much of the maintenance of the premises which is undertaken during the winter. It is unfortunate that after so many years he has lost the opportunity to represent the Club as its Chairman. A painting of the loch and clubhouse by Joe Swierczek. has been presented to Iain by the Club as a memento of his membership. We wish him well and are sure that he will be thinking of Fannyside as he cruises the Solent Andrew Riddell, who has for many years now carried out the roles of Secretary and Treasurer has seen this a suitabIe moment to resign his post. Andrew too has served the Club well and no doubt members will wish to thank him for his efforts over the years. And there's more. Due to other commitments Lex Slessor has also rehJctantly 1W to sIaod down from the This being the busiest time of the year the Committee have bad to reorganise quick1y . Andrew Dean. the present Vice-Chairman will take over as Chairman from the end or March. Andrew Riddell's post will be divided between Brian Coles as Secretary I and Frank Connor as Treasurer. To provide some continuity the Past-Chairman John Peter has agreed to return as a Committee Member and Ken Roxburgh bas also rejoined after an absence of several years. |
Racing ProgrammeThe season officially begins on Sunday 17th Apri1 with the opening regatta. Month1y regattas will be on the first Sunday of the following months until the closing regatta on 2nd October. The May event will be postponed for one week until 8th May to avoid the holiday weekend. day in addition to putting the results forward to the our Championship. The A.G.M. directed that the Tuesday evening sailing should be changed to Wednesdays to allow a greater turnout. There will be 18 organised evenings commencing on the 4th May. Three series are to be competed for; Red, Blue and Green. These will consist of six consecutive Wednesdays, the best four results to count. Racing generally begins at around 7pm MaintenanceOnly around half of the current outstanding items have been attended to. Members are asked to look at the list in the clubhouse and, if they can help, to speak to a member of the Committee. Those who have been at the loch over the winter will have noticed that the end section of the jetty has been destroyed by the weather. Although the loch has recently been kept high, thanks to Iain Waugh, the deepest end of the jetty is important to the larger boats with deep centreplates and faster boats such as the catamarans. The repair of this section is therefore the main priority. Improvements which are to be carried out this season include the re-siting of the urn, installation of a Water heater at the sink and the provision of a microwave oven. The work Carried out last year to improve the ventilation has been highly successful in reducing the dampness problem in the spar shed and changing rooms. Sailboarderssailboarding members will already have received a newsletter in January. Brian Coles has put forward a number of interesting ideas some new and some repeats of previous successful events. These will begin with a talk from Mark Livingston of the R.Y.A. on Tuesday 5 April at 7.30. |
