LOCHSIDE SAILING CLUB APRIL NEWSLETTER

Andrew Riddell
Dear Member,
First turning our minds back to business that arose from last years A.G.M.
The meeting felt that members should be given minutes of Annual General Meetings sent to them direct. Enclosed you will find copy minutes of our A.G.M. 3-11-91,this being the first opportunity to send details. There was also a request for members to see minutes of committee meetings displayed on the notice board. At a subsequent committee meeting, we decided that if members require access to minutes, then a summary of the main points would be provided on application to the Secretary. Minutes will not be displayed in the clubhouse.
All future committee meetings will follow an agreed Agenda, as can be seen on the notice board. Members are invited to submit suggestions, ideas etc. in Writing only to the Secretary, who will see that your letter receives due attention at their next meeting. On a lighter note the A.G.M. saw the presentation of Club Trophies with Andrew Dean and Colin McCann picking up the Handicap Fleet Trophy. Their Lark dinghy easily won this class from, chiefly, Mirrors. This group is likely to be the most open, with all boats able to compete, except Lasers. Yet attendances are fairly inconsistent. Lets see a concerted effort from all owners this year, it only takes a few faces to get themselves organised and encourage others to take part. The Laser Trophy was collected by Andrew Riddell, piping Colin MacGregor. Lasers continue to be very active and provides friendly competitive sailing, with most owners recording a victory or two.

The winter months have seen a few members continuing to brave the cold water, however notable faces missing are the usual 'hardy' windsurfers.
Work on the' club-house during this period includes Painting, together with a general tidy of club premises. Improvements are also going on in order to try and prevent the damp atmosphere creating problems, by increasing the air circulation. Additionsl work may include extending the jetty during the warmer weather. Whilst from time to time, the committee may phone members to inform them of some concern over their property, members are reminded of their own responsibility in looking after their own property. Finally your attention is drawn to the Clubs property and belongings. Accidents do happen, for example, the propeller being broken last year. However there is no reason for not informing the committee of such incidents, rather than leave it for someone to find out, when the rescue boat is needed.
